This place is great- I immediately felt welcome and like family. Sensei Cody is a patient and knowledgeable teacher and while I was only able to attend for 6 weeks, I feel better prepared to defend myself or my son (God forbid). My son has been training at El Cerrito Martial Arts since the beginning of this school year. We had been looking for both a martial arts program and a new after school program. On the recommendation of a friend, we decided to look into the program at E.C.M.A.
After talking with Cody, I felt comfortable with giving their after school martial arts program a try. This has been a great decision. My son really enjoys it there and has shown tremendous growth in a short period of time. The daily instruction, play, snack, and study times have been of great comfort as a parent. They pick the program's children up from their respective local schools and provide a safe child care option for working parents until 6pm M-F.
My two boys have been going for over a year for after school program and they love it, we love it. The teacher, Cody is a really cool dude.
My son has been taking karate lessons for about 2 years now and has learned a lot. All the teachers and staff are very knowledgeable and welcoming. The place is well organized.
Sensei Cody is an Excellent coach. He takes great pride in running this academy with much care and effort.
Highly recommended for Anyone who is interested in self-defense as well as getting into physical shape.

I've been taking Jiu Jitsu for almost a year now, and I feel so much healthier. My 2 daughters have been going for 3 and 2 years respectively and they're still at it and having fun learning.
